Music

?

During the 1920’s, the popular music was jazz with artists such as Louis Armstrong (singer and trumpet) and Duke Ellington (pianist). In the 1950s, this evolved into big band with artists like Frank Sinatra and rock n roll, Elvis Presley. This is when music was started to aim at the younger generations, especially teenagers. In 1960’s, the biggest band was The Beatles, and so the decade became known as Beatlemania. This was when fandoms started and “fangirls” would go weak at the knees for their favourites. Youth culture was becoming popular, as music inspired fashion and behaviour. In 1964, 6 million teenagers spent 1.5 billion on merchandise.
