Euthanasia

Muslims are against euthanasia. They believe in the sanctity of life. They feel that all human life is sacred because it is given by Allah, and that Allah chooses how long we’re to live. Human beings shouldn’t interfere with this.

Euthanasia and suicide are not included in the reasons to kill according to the Qur’an.

Do not take life, which Allah made sacred, other than in the course of justice”-Qur’an 17:33

If a Muslim ends their life, either through euthanasia or suicide, it is considered zulm (a wrong done against Allah which stops someone going to paradise)

Muslims believe that if someone is driven to take their own life the Ummah (community of Islam) must have failed to support that person.

Muslims do believe that if someone is being kept alive artificially (Life support etc) the machine keeping them alive can be turned off (if there is no hope of recovery).
