Judeo-Christian view of Creation
- Based on the creation story found in the Genesis.
According to this text, the earth in its present form was the result of an act of divine creation performed by God over a period of six days.
‘Creation’, ‘Creator’ and ‘creatio ex nihilo’
Christians believe that the universe is separate from God, but was brought into being by God out of nothing (theory of creatio ex nihilo).
According to the Bible, nothing existed before the universe was made, apart from God. God then willed the universe to be there, an act of creation that took six days.
