THE STEAM ENGINE

In 1712, Thomas Newcomen invented the first steam engine. However, at that time it wasn't useful. In 1769, James Watt improved the Steam Engine and made it more efficient. The steam engine was one of the most important inventions in the industrial revolution. It was and still is, used to power trains, steamboats and factories.

THE SPINNING JENNY

In 1764, James Hargreaves invented the spinning jenny. It was a machine used for spinning with more than one spindle at a time. It helped to improve the efficiency and make it easier to spin cotton.
