Fertilisers
Fertilisers are chemicals that increase crop yields by providing minerals that plants need to grow e.g. nitrate and potassium. Minerals in the soil are used up for crops to grow and the fertilisers replace this so the next crop can grow.
- Natural Fertilisers: Organic, manure.
- Artificial Fertilisers: Inorganic, powders.
Pesticides
Increase crop yields by killing pests that feed on the crops. This means fewer plants damaged or destroyed. Pesticides can be specific or non specific. The only problem with broad pesticides is the fact it can harm non pest species also.
