Hitler's Steps Towards War
In 1933 Hitler walked out of the world disarmament conference arguing that Germany shouldn't be the only country to have disarmed. He refused to be restricted by the terms of the treaty of Versailles.
In 1935, 90% of the saar voted to return to Germany. All of the Saar's valuable coal deposits were returned to Germany.
Hitler began rearmament in 1935. He reintroduced conscription and began to build up the navy and army. The Anglo-German naval agreement allowed Germany's fleet to grow by 35%.
