First Ionisation Enthalpy

  • Certain energy will mean an electron is lost from an atom and it becomes a +ve ion = ionisation
  • One electron is pulled off = first ionisation enthalpy
  • Definition = energy needed to remove one electron from every atom in one mole of isolated gases atoms of the element

General equation:

X(g) = X+(g) + e-

  • X =
