Source T clearly states that it was the constrasting leaders that explain why Labour was able to overturn such a large Conservative majority in the election of october 1964. This was because the leader of the Labour party,Wilson appeare as anordinary man  which people could relate to, thus his popularity. Wheras the leader of the Conservatives, Douglas-Home seemed like a traditional etonian which was not good for the time period as in the 1960s there were rapid social changes.Wilson took avantage of the social changes during the 1960s by embracing white heat of technology and proposing ideas that would help Britain to develop such as the department of economic affairs which would help business developped by providing funds to businesses to help them develop new ideas.
