The 4 main food groups are carbohydrates, fats, proteins and fibre.
In order to have a balanced diet we must eat the correct amount of each one.
Carbohydrates can be separated into two groups; Sugars (table sugar) and Starches (pasta, flour, potatoes). Sugars are simpler molecules than starch.
Fats are found in many foods (cheese, margarine, oils, cakes).
Fat is needed to insulate the body and the membranes of cells are made of fat.
Proteins is needed for growth and repair. It can be found in meat, fish, eggs and tofu.
