ALLEGORY OF THE CAVE
- In the book 'Republic'
- illusrates his ideas about human knowlegde in relation to reality
- imagine a dark, large cave connected to the outside world by a long passage, in the cave with their backs to the entrance is a row of prisoner in *******,unable to move
- behind them is a bright fire, people move to and bfro behin them to that their shadows are projected on the wall and voices echoes- prisoners only ever experience this so would believe these shadows & echoes to be real
- one day a prisoner is set free- he goes to the outside…
