Opposition to Roosevelt

The New Deal and its measures caused huge divisions in American public opinion. 

usiness Leaders:

• Regulations of working conditions
• Trade unions allowed to bargain collectively with employers on behalf of their members
• Huge cost of welfare productions

The States:

• Measures such as TVA cut right acriss the rights of individual states
• Some states feared that the Federal Government was becoming too powerful

Politicians: 

• Opposed the democrats
• Quashing the traditional reliance on self help
• The New Deal did not go on far enough

The Supreme Court:

• The judges belived the New Deal measure were illegal
• Roosevelt wanted them on his side
