Faith and the power of reason

Augustine- Faith is essential to know God but reason can help Christians understand their faith more and make sense of it in the Bible. 

Aquinas- Reason is innate in us. 'Natural reason' has been put there by a rational God. 

Both theists see faith as compatible. 

Pascal- Reason does not give us access to God only the heart does 

Kierkegaard- we are all fallible creatures with a limited perspective. 

Therefore they both believe reason takes us away from God who is revealed in the Bible 

Makes God a mere object of study for philosophers who are interested in the debate.
