Diet and Exercise

A healthy diet has the right balence of food types.

Carbohydrates, fat and protein are used by the body to release energy and build cells.

Mineral ions and vitamins are needed to keep the body healthy. If the diet is unbalenced a person can become malnourished.

A balenced diet includes everything needed to keep the body healthy.

Different people need different amounts of energy because the metabolic rate varies from person to person.

If the energy (food) taken in is less then the energy used the person will loose mass.

The more exercise you do the more food you need.

The proportion of muscle to fat in your body and your inherited factors can also affect your metabolic rate.

These problems can be reduced by eating less carbohydrate and increasing the amount of exercise.

It is unhealthy to be seriously under-weight.

Some people are unhealthy because they have to little food (starvation). They find it difficult to walk about and may suffer from deficiency diseases due to lack of vitamins and minerals.
