Child Development: Growth and Development / Motor Skills

• All children go through the same stages of growth and through the same order

• Each stage when complete is a milestone

• The average age for walking is 1 year old

Motor skills

• Requires co-ordination between the brain and muscles

Gross Motor Skills

• Are skills that use large muscles
• The skills we use them for are : running, jumping, climbing etc

Fine Manipulative skills

• Are skills that use small muscles
• The skills we use them for are: writing, drawing, sewing etc
