British and International Cuisines

?

Definition of Cuisine

  • Cuisine: a style of cooking and eating that is characteristic of a particular country or region of the world
  • Cuisines around the world have developed over many centuries by using: specific cooking equipment, preparation and cooking methods, as well as particular ingredients that are usually grown or gathered locally in the area and distinctive preparation and/or serving techniques
  • Many cuisines have been influenced by: the local geography and climate that influences which foods can be produced, and the immigration of people from other countries, who have settled in a country and brought with them their traditional eating patterns, which have then become part of that country's cuisine
  • People don't only eat their traditional cuisines in Britain, as food has become very multi-cultural
