Kapp Putsch

Causes

As Ebert strongly relied on the Right winged Freikorps to defeat the communists he had very little control over them
The Freikorp wanted to make Germany a dictatorship again
Therefore in March 1920 Dr Kapp led 5000 freikorp troops into Berlin.
The Army refused to fight and Ebert was forced to flee
Ebert called a general strike, and the peope backed it and work grinded to a halt

Effects

Kapp realised that his government was unsustainable and fled
Kapp was hunted down and died before trial
Weimar Government was reinstated and was supported by the majority

Overall summary

A right wing leader successfully captures the state after over reliance on the force and the feeling of diktat but after the people fail to back him, the government succeeds and is supported.
