Evaluate e-recruitment as advertising as a method of external recruitment.

Advantages

  • global reach - greater no. of job seekers ∴ more chance of competent aapplicant
  • cost-effective - posting job opening on internet costs less, while reaching broader audience
  • faster recruitment cycle - only takes a few mins + job seekers often respond to posting same day w/ cv's

Disadvantages

  • access - may exclude groups who do not have internet access or aren't signed up to job website
  • executive talent - impersonal skills, years of experience + professional work ethic aren't easily assessed though virtual screenings
  • too many candidates - candidates apply for jobs they aren't suitable for = wastes a lot of time

Evaluation

Practice of using technology + web-based resources for tasks involved w/ finding, attracting, assessing, interviewing + hiring new personnel - corporate websites can also be used. Can search by state, industry, salary or experience e.g CareerBuilder, Monster + HotJobs.
