Craik and Lockhart

Advantages

Demand Characteristic - the participants didn't know the aim, increased validity.
Reliability - same conditions used, tested individually, same word list, randomly selected words.
Ecological Validity - tested general memory.
Application - helps students study methods.
Methods - repeated measures used, participant variables, mixed up words.

Disadvantages

Ethics - participants deceived, wrong aim told (reaction test).
Ecological Validity - held in a lab using unusual isolated questions, unnatural experiment.
Methods - suffered order effects, participants become bored towards end.
Sample - only 24 participants.

Evaluation

The experiment proved the aim to be correct however it had some weaknesses which would need to be changed if the experiment is to have increased validity.
