Advantages and Disadvantages of Vaccinations

Advantages

Vaccines have helped control lots of infectious diseases that were once common in the UK (e.g polio, measles, whooping cough)
Epidemics, big outbreaks of disease, can be prevented if a large percentage of the population is vaccinated.
Vaccines can provide lifelong protection against a disease.
You will be protected from serious or potentially fatal diseases.

Disadvantages

Vaccines aren't always effective - sometimes they don't give you immunity.
You can sometimes get a bad reaction or be allergic to a vaccine, but this is rare.

Evaluation

I think that the advantages of vaccinations outweigh the disadvantages because it is better to be immune to a potentially life threatening disease than get a small side effect.
