- WW1 and the February Revolution- MILITARY
- The war began bad for Russia and got progressively worse.
- The two major battles at Tanenburg and the Masurian Lakes in Aug and Sept were lost.
- Within the army there was shortages of equipment and a rise in the number of dead and injured.
- This caused devastation and despair amongst the army and Russian citizens.
- The rifles were in short supply and shells limited to 2 or 3 per day, by 1925.
- The majority of shortages were caused by poor distribution rather than production.
- The Tsar's popularity was impacted by the rising death toll among the army (about 3 million lost their lives.)
