- Liberal
- Women's oppression is being gradually overcome
- Changing attitudes as well as laws
- They don't like canalization (gendering toys and influencing children)

- Ann Oakley: principled pragmatism, using practical policies to produce gender equality
- Marxist
- The main cause of women oppression is capitalism
- Women are a 'reserve army' of cheap labour
- They see the family as a negative as well as linking to the exploitation of the working class
- Fran Ansley: wives are 'takers of ****' and they soak the frustration of their husbands
- Radical
- Society is founded on patriarchy and therefore the key division in society is men vs women
- Men are seen as the enemy
- Political Lesbianism: the idea that heterosexual relationships are like 'sleeping with the enemy'
- Germanin Greer: motherhood isn't valued by society and therefore women should separate themselves from men
- Difference
- We cannot generalise women's experience as they are all different
- Sometimes also known as 'black feminism'
- Post-structuralist
- Discourses allows others to define people in a certain way
- Feminists believe that how some female actions are categorised influences its perception
- e.g. Pregnancy is seen as an illness and pregnant women are seen as patients when they are, in most cases, completely healthy
