- by end of 1944, black soldiers were fighting in units with white soldiers in the army and marines
- Where also black pilots by they weren't aloud to fly with whites
- by the end of war, 58 black sailors had risen to the rank of officer
- Job opportunities for them had increased, although they were treated badly
- During WW2, 40,000 black Americans had migrated south and employment had rose
- CORE was founded by Eisenhower and led to the end of segregation in some northern cities
- many black women had become nurses although they could only help black people
- received better pay and demanded better rights
