      • copying the behaviours of others

    • Bandura- Bobo Doll (1961)
      • Children 3-5 years old observed an adult attacking (punching, kicking, hitting with a hammer, shouting) a bobo doll
      • They were then left in the room with the doll and it was found that the children copied the behaviour. The findings were stronger if an adult was the same sex
      • Another group of children saw adults acting neutrally towards the doll. These children did not attack the doll.
      • Variations of the study- one shown recording dressed as a cat, suggests children may copy TV. Another showed adults being praised or punished, children increased behaviours that adults were praised for
