- those who live in the city have a vast food choice whereas those who live in rural areas have much a much less variety of food of wich they can choose from
- changes in working patterns
- people spend more time travelling to work meaning that people not eat on the move meaning more availability of easy to eat products such as cereal bars, ready meals for one and ready prepared sandwiches
- income
- those with a higher disposable income can spend more on food so buying larger quantities or a larger variety of foods. however those with smaller incomes will have to buy less and be more resourceful when buying food.
- leisure time
- people now have more leisure time meaning they spend more time outside the home. this means that people spend less time when preparing food.
- cooking equipment
- new equipment being able to reach a wider range of customers
- geographical location
