    • Regeneration projects
      • Barking Town Centre has been transformed into a residential and commerical centre (400 homes)
      • Gascoigne Estate, the borough's most deprived estate will provide 1,500 new homes by 2024
        • Will also have schools, community centre, outdoor spaces
      • At Barking Riverside (the former power station) there will be a new neighbourhood, with 11,000 new homes
        • There will also be outdoor spaces, health centres, schools
        • Will create 6,000 jobs
      • Dagenham Dock is now a sustainable business area, transformed from derelict land
        • A plastic bottle recycling company recycles 10% of UK's plastic bottles!
    • Success of regeneration. OJ: Environmentally successful, but still a long way to go socially and economically
      • Social
        • Life expectancy on average still 2 years less than rest of London
        • It is still in 30% most deprived neighbourhoods in the country, although this is an improvement
      • Economic
        • Median income is £500, which is higher than UK average but less than average for London
        • Majority of job category in skilled trade (21.1%) but 13.3% are professional, this is an improvement
      • Environmental
        • V. successful, old docklands transformed to business parks and outdoor spaces have been created
