      • used to reflect the idea that in no way god resembles his creation
        • beyond all limitations
          • doesn't die/be born
        • Greater than us
          • created us and everything else in the universe
        • Above and beyond use
          • far away outside of creation
        • separate to use
          • unlike any of his creation
        • outside of time and space
          • he's everywhere and he wont ever age
        • distent
          • doesn't obviously communicate with us
        • unimaginable and incomparable
          • we need metaphors to understand him

    • The Shahada
      • First pillar of islam
        • Much believe to become a muslim
          • First and last thing a muslim should hear
        • Muslims are obliged to follow the laws rather than just beliefs
      • "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger"
      • Public decoration of faith, recognising tawhid and the Muhammad as a exemplary Muslim
        • making the decoration with the correct intent and two witnesses is the entrance to islam
          • Gives their life true purpose to submit to Allah and follow the example Muhammad set.

          • public acts should naturally follow from the shahada rather than keeping it priavte

          • hidden shirk, private intent is the main focus
          • Muslims should be privately minded about Allah at all times-taqwa
          • should be the last words a Muslim says regardless of where they are in public or not
