- Insider - have close lniks with Govt. Given advice & consulted about issues

- 3 Approaches
- Pluralist Approach
- Provide expert views and inform Govt.
- Refelcted views of 'ordinary' people who were entitled to have them.
- Allowed minority voices to be heard - caters for diverse mix of views
- New Right Approach
- Expresses alarm about power of other groups
- Sees groups as promoting own concerns rather than the whole societies.
- Against insider groups - believe they have easy access & can easily change views
- Marxist Approach
- See control in society being exercised by the ruling economic group - make decisions to serve its own interest
- Believes wealthier minority should influence Govt. & society as a whole - not smaller minority groups.
- Draws attention to the unequal distribution between employees & employers
