  • Homosexuality
    • Issue which has divided Christianity.. Conservatives will usually not agree whilst Liberals recognise their rights
      • Protestants = homosexual acts are wrong but people are still 'individuals of sacred worth'
      • Roman catholics = there is no sin in having homosexual inclinations but it is sinful to act upon them - procreation not possible
      • Liberals = not seen as a major issue
    • Literal interpretations of the Bible assert that homosexuality is wrong and unnatural but they also assert that adulterous people should be stoned to death!?
      • The New testament speaks of the importance of the quality of the relationship which matters
    • Issues
      • Homosexuality not being natural
      • Homosexual sex not leading to procreation
      • Question of the 'gay gene'
      • Actual/ metaphorical bible interpretation
    • Until the late 1960s, homosexuality was a criminal offence which could be punishable with a prison sentence! (no one was sentenced after 1959)

    • "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman: this is abomination" (Leviticus 18:22)
