  • Civil Rights
    • All men created equally under the Dec, equal protections clause of the 14th amendment.
    • Discrimination: often happens, RATIONAL BASIS TEST decides whether there is a valid reason. INTERMEDIATE SCRUTINY requires gov to demonstrate treating men and women differently is important. STRICT SCRUTINY, members of racial groups has compelling gov interest.

    • WOMEN'S RIGHTS
      • Married women did not have separate identities. Temperance and abolition movement, sufferage, national womens party, equal rights.
      • ISSUES, glass ceiling, harassment, abortion, comparable worth.
    • INDIGENOUS GROUPS
      • Abused since colonisation, denied citizenship, TRAIL OF TEARS, CURTIS ACT abolished tribal govs, INDIAN SELF-DETERMINATION AND EDUCATION ASSISTANCE ACT OF 1975.
