Causes of poverty
- The cycle of deprivation
  - Children born into poor families with backgrounds of social problems then go and inhabit or marry one another.
- Being dependent upon the state
  - They cannon not work or find it very difficult to budgets.
- Lack Employment
  - Not being able to find work, especially for long periods. Even if you work you can still be in poverty as it could be low pay or for short amounts of time
- Lack of education
  - You will find it hard if you do not have the skills needed to work or the qualifications.
- Caring for others
  - Single parents are unable to work as cannot afford child care and have to look after children instead of getting paid work.
- Being homeless
  - They might not be able to work as do not have a permanent address. This affects obtains benefits and opening a bank account
- Being elderly, sick or disabled
  - You can no longer be fit for work, and depended on state benefits.
- The poverty trap
  - When some one is born into deprivation and poverty and may never be able to escape that area in which they live offers them limited opportunities and they may not have the financial capability to escape.
