OMNIPOTENT
total power = 1. god can do anything [but god can't change etc] 2. god can do anything which is logically possible [god can't create evil] 3. god can do anything which is logically possible and doesn't limit his power [KENNY]

OMNISCIENT
his infinite knowledge. 2 types of knowledge --> 1) practical 2) propositional. issues with practical knowledge and god being incorporeal and transcendent. KRETZMANN incoherene with omniscient and immutable [unchanging]
2 of 8
BENEVOLENT
his supreme goodness. love for his creation as seen in the bible. AQUINAS - form of perfection. ARISTOTLE - not an extra quality. source of all goodness, filters to creation
3 of 8
TRANSCENDENCE
exists outside of the universe [and space and time]. supports the idea of him as the creator. sees time all at once
4 of 8
IMMANENT
within time and space. god has always existed and he always will. lives alongside and throughout his creation. has a temporal sequence - can order events.
5 of 8
IMMUTABLE
unchanging. god does not need to change - he is perfect. god cannot change as change is only possible in beings that are made of parts
6 of 8
ETERNAL
exists outside of time. he is timeless. must have existed outside time to have created it. agrees with PLATO's view that there are holy 'forms' outside universe. AQUINAS - all time laid out in front of God [example of the hill]
7 of 8
EVERLASTING
Wolterstorff says that an eternal god, outside of time, renders the bible false or at least a long list of metaphors. makes no sense he can act in the world. hard to believe he created the world then left it. personal relationship with creation
