What is Vancomycin used for?
Large intestine infection, joint infection, cellulites, leg ulcer infection, complicated skin and soft tissue infections.

What's the main side effects?
Nausea, Hypersensitivity, renal failure, tinnitus, vertigo, skin reactions.

How is it Absorbed ?
Orally or infused directly into the vein directly into the bloodstream

How is it distributed?
into body tissues and fluids, including heart valves, lungs, muscle and bone.

How is it Metabolised?
The drug is not metabolised and 80-90% of the drug is excreted unchanged in the urine within 24 hrs of first administration.

How is the drug excreted
mostly through urine however the drug can be found in bile and stool.

Contraindications?
Intestinal disorders such as IBD, Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, kidney disease, hearing problems or receiving any IV antibiotics
