1. Gives the Church its identity. 2. Has Moral Authority.

How do we interpret scripture?
Literal, moral + allegorical interpretations.

Scripture and The Resurrection
Jesus died for our sins. Death + sins are linked in the bible as separation from God. Conquest of death represent conquest of sin and an everlasting fellowship with God.

What are the Three formal predictions of the resurrection?
MK 8.31, MK 9.31 and MK 10.34. All proclaim he will be killed and rise on the third day.

Where is the first resurrection appearance?
1 Corinthians 15. Mark, Matthew and John also mention it but there is no agreement on details of the resurrection stories.

What is Rudolf Bultmann's interpretation of the resurrection?
The cross is a way of thinking about Christ. We read the resurrection as a way of commenting on the significance of Christ but it is not historical truth.

God is internal in all creation (Aquinas) and everything but God loses energy.
