Where does the word Eschatology come from?
The Greek word, 'Ta eschata', which means the last things.

Natural imagery such as volcanos were used. Metaphors are to be taken seriously as religious discourse. The writer is thinking of the Roman Empire in Revelations.

Irenaeus: Christ will come to rule again for 1000 years. It affirms the value of created reality. God loves the world he made.

Eschatology is what we might expect after death. It contains the four last things: death, judgement, Heaven and Hell.

Eschatology became more secularised. It became the cult of progress.

Eschatology is the key in which Theology is set. Moltmann disagrees with the view that we share the suffering of Jesus and should realise it is our sins that caused it. Instead, he says Christianity begins at the resurrection, not the cross.

The belief that life is nothing but preparation for death.

Death is not the end of life, it is an event of life. The resurrection is also an event belonging to the whole of life.

If this were so, God's decisions would depend on humans. If I could damn myself I would be my own God and judge, which is atheistic.
