What is supplementary vote (SV)?
-One first preference vote
-One second preference vote
-win with 50% or more using first preference votes
-if there's no winner, all but top two are eliminated and second preference votes determine a winner

What are two advantages of SV?
-easy to understand
-stops candidates from winning without lots of support (encouraging positive campaigning for second preference votes)

-votes can still be wasted
-the winner doesn't need 50% majority (just a win in the second round)
-not proportional to the region's wishes as just one candidate is elected
