Sanctions
Deviant and criminal behaviours are subject to sanctions which can be a reward or punishment

Formal Sanctions
A formal punishment, written down in law, used in response to breaking a formally written law. Can be used for both crimianl and deviant punishment

Examples of Formal Sanctions
Prison, community service, fines, disqualified from driving, points on licence, ASBOs, ankle tag, death penalty

Informal Sanctions
Used in response to behaviour that breaks social norms and used in response to deviant behaviour

Examples of Informal Sanctions
Name calling, isolating them, rude hand gestures, shouting at someone, and not messaging them back
