The production of RBCs, WBCs and platelets from HSC
Occurs in the bone marrow
Maintains balance between self-renewal, terminal differentiatio, migration and cell death

What are the sites of haematopoiesis with age?
Fetus: 0-2 mths (yolk sac)
2-7 mths (liver and spleen)
5-9 mths (bone marrow)
In infants - throughout bone marrow
Adulthood: axial skeleton
