what is opportunity sampling?
most common, easiest, use people who are ready, available and willing to participate.

what is self-selected sampling?
people who participate volunteer. psychologist places an ad (poster,leaflet etc) and people interested contact the researcher. researcher filters responses to a sample to reflect their target audience.

what is snowball sampling?
used when population is not easily contacted. participant is asked to suggest another person who is willing or appropriate for the study.

what is random sampling?
every member of the target population has an equal chance of being chosen. all participants are entered into a draw and names are randomly selected until the desired number is reached.
