What are the two different types of waves?

The distance from one wave crest to the next wave crest

Transverse wave - oscillations are perpendicular to the direction of energy transfer Longitudinal - oscillations are parallel to the direction of energy transfer

That it transfers more energy

It changes the direction and speed of a wave at the boundary

What is diffraction of a wave?
The spreading of waves when they pass through a gap or move past an obstacle

When is diffraction most noticable?
When the hole is the same size as the wavelength of the wave

What is interference?
The reinforcement or cancellation of waves when two identical sets of waves overlap

What happens when a crest meets a trough?
The two waves cancel each other out

Whenever the difference in the distances to each slit is a whole number of wavelengths

Whenever the difference in the distances to each slit is a whole number of wavelengths + an extra half wavelength

They reinforce each other
