Performance
How well a task is being completed
3 of 41
Cardiovascular Fitness (HRE)
The ability to exercise the entire body for long periods of time
4 of 41
Muscular Strength (HRE)
The amount of force a muscle can exert against a resistance
5 of 41

The ability to use voluntary muscles many times without getting tired
6 of 41
Flexibility (HRE)
The range of movement possible at a joint
7 of 41
Body Composition (HRE)
The percentage of body weight that is fat, mscle and bone.
8 of 41
Agility (SRF)

10 of 41
Coordination (SRF)
The ability to use two or more body parts at the same time
11 of 41
Power (SRF)
The ability to undertake strength performances quickly (Power=Strength x Speed)
12 of 41
Reaction Time (SRF)
The time between the presentation of a stimulus and the onset of movement
13 of 41
Speed
The differential rate at which an individual is able to perform or cover a distance in a period of time
14 of 41
Individual differences/needs
Matching training to the requirements of an individual
15 of 41
Specifity
Matching training to the requirements of an activity
16 of 41

To gradually increase the amount of overload so that fitness gains occur, but without potential for injury
17 of 41
Rest
The period of time allotted for recovery
18 of 41
Recovery
The time required for the repair of damage to the body caused by training or competition
19 of 41
FITT
Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type - Used to increase the amount of work the body does in order to acheive overload
20 of 41
Reversibility
Any adaption that takes place as a consequence of training will be reversed when you stop training
21 of 41
Fitness
The ability to meet the demands of the environment
22 of 41

23 of 41
Heart rate
The number of times that the heart beats per minute (BPM)
24 of 41
Resting Heart Rate (RHR)
The heart rate at rest
25 of 41
Measuring Heart Rate
Can be done by checking your radial pulse on the wrist OR carotous pulse on the neck
26 of 41
Working Heart Rate (WHR)
The measurement of the heart rate during or straight after exercise
27 of 41
Maximum Heart Rate (MHR)
Calculated by the persons age - subtract persons age form 220 (E.g - 220-16 = 204BPM)
28 of 41
Target Heart Rate
Can be found by taking 60% of MHR as the lower threshold and 80% as the upper threshold
29 of 41
Recovery Rate
How long it takes for a person's heart rate to return to its resting level
30 of 41
Factors of a balanced diet
Macronutrients - Carbs, Fats and Protein. Micronutrients - Minerals(calcium, iron), Vitamins, Fibre
31 of 41
Carbo-loading
The practice of eating high amounts of carbs for several days after a period of low carbohydrate intake immediately before taking part in a competition so they can store glycogenin the body which provides greater reserves of energy
32 of 41
Body Mass Index
Weight in Kg/Height in m^2 so 55Kg/1.69^2 = 19.3 BMI
33 of 41

35 of 41
Properties of an Ectomorph
117 - Very thin, very little fat, narrow shoulers and hips
36 of 41
Cardiac Output
The amount of blood ejected form the heart in a minute - Stroke Volume x Heart Rate
37 of 41
Stroke Volume
The volume of blood pumped out of the heart by each ventricle during one contraction
38 of 41
Why does your heart beat faster during exercise?
The muscles require more oxygen, which means the blood needs more oxygen and more nutrients(glycogen)to function properly.Oxygen and nutrients are carried to the muscles by the blood.Heart has to work faster to pump blood around the body.HR increases
39 of 41
What is the Cardiovascular System?
The heart, the blood-vessels and the blood
40 of 41
What is the average heart rate?
Between 60-80bpm
