?
Where is the "Ozone" found and what does it do?
It is found in the stratosphere and filters out ultraviolet radiation.
1 of 12
What are CFC's and how are they harming the ozone layer?
CFC's are found in aerosols and fridges, they are gases that reduce the thickness of the ozone layer.
2 of 12
How to scientists monitor the thickness of the ozone layer?
By using satellites.
3 of 12
When exposed to UV radiation, what does the skin produce that gives a tan?
Melanin.
4 of 12
What are P waves?
P waves are longitudinal waves which can pass through both solids and liquids, they are also refracted by the Earth's core meaning that scientists can find out the size of the core.
5 of 12
What are S waves?
S waves are transverse waves which can only pass through solids, this proves that the Earth's core is a liquid as S waves can't pass through it.
6 of 12
How are different Earthquake waves shown?
In a seismograph.
7 of 12
What happens to radio waves in the atmosphere?
They are reflected and refracted, the amount of refraction depends on the size of the wave.
8 of 12
What is interference?
Interference is when two waves of different frequencies occupy the same space, creating noise
9 of 12
What is the difference between analogue and digital signal?
Analogue is an on and off signal, making it hard for noise to be resolved. Digital signals has numerous frequencies between 0 and 1 making it easier for noise to be resolved.
10 of 12
What are optical fibres?
Optical fibres can transmit data quickly using pulses of light.
11 of 12
Name 2 uses of infra-red signals?
Remote control
