Similar products are grouped together- e.g. reasturant kitchen or an x ray department in a hospital

Self contained areas, they have everything in one area to complete the transaction. e.g sports shop, maternity unit, lunch area in a supermarket

All operations follow the same sequence of processes. e.g. paper printing or TV assembly
