Of mice and men conflict quotes

?
George said coldly, "You gonna give me that mouse or do I have to sock you?"
George is acting less of a parent here and showing his pessimistic side. This shows that he might not entirely care for Lennie and only really values the fact that he has a friend and not actually Lennie as a Human.

"His arms gradually bent at the elbows and his hands closed into fists. He stiffened and went into a slight crouch."
Curly is imeditately taking a negative response to the observation of George and Lennie. He can't stand big guys and when he sees Lennie he can't help himself but get ready to fight. This could fore shadow the future events.

"Well, you keep your place then, ******. I could get you strung up on a tree so easy it ain't even funny."
Even women who are assumed to have a lower status than men due to the time period can still assert some authority- but this is only to Crooks. This shows that the sexual character that she presents is a front as she has a violent nature about her.

"Lennie smiled with this bruised mouth."
This truly portrays the innocence that Lennie has inside of him as he can still smile after being beaten up. Violence and conflict mainly occurs due to size and there was always a conflict between curly and Lennie deu to vast size difference.

"He was so little," said Lennie. "I was jus playin’ with him… an’ he made like he’s gonna bite me… an’ I made like I was gonna smack him … an’… an’ I done it. An’ then he was dead."
Violonce does not always have to be blood spattered but even the smallest things can cause conflict. Lennie always provides difficulties but that is just his nature. This again shows the inevitability for Lennie to survive.
