Haemolysis- rupture of red blood cells
Elevated liver enzymes- liver function is compromised.
Low platelet count: unusual low level of platelets, risk of excessive bleeding inability to clot

Eclampsia: seizures occurring in pregnancy or within 10 days of delivery
headache, seizure, nausea, vomiting, upper right abdo pain, pallor, fatigue, paleness, dizziness, confusion

ante-partum haemorrhage : bleed from 24+ weeks caused by placenta prevue, placenta abruption.
placenta previa: placenta lies in the lower uterine segment, overlaps on cervix, bleeding is revealed, bright red blood, not pain.
placenta abruption: complete or partial detachment of the placenta before delivery, bleeding is revealed or concealed, dark

pulmonary embolism: blood clot in the lung, pregnant women are 5x more likely due to less blood Flow to the legs, immobile, C-section
shortness of breath, chest pain, cough, Haemoptysis, dizziness. tachypnoea, tachycardia, hypotension, dot-red swollen hot calf, cyanosis, pleural rub- grating sounds

post partum haemorrhage : blood loss 500ml or more following childbirth.
causes 4 T's
tone: atonic uterus (not well contracted)
trauma: injury as a result of childbirth. tears, lacerations
tissue: retained tissue
thrombin: underlying disorders of clotting
heavy bleeding, tachycardia, hypotension, cold peripheries

postnatal depression: depression after having a baby, can be felt during pregnancy
depressed, low, unhappy, tearful, irritable, psychosis, suicidal, anxiety, behavioural changes, loss of appetite, sleepless.
consider welfare of child, child protection, safeguarding , non accidental injury.
