Leading Question
A question that hints that a particular type of answer is required.
8 of 24
Levels of Processing
A model of memory based on the idea that we are more/less likely to remember something depending on how it is thought about when trying to remember it.
9 of 24
Long-Term Store
Holds information which passes from the short-term store, has a potentially unlimited capacity and duration.
10 of 24
Multi-Store Model
A model of memory based on the idea that information passes through a series of memory stores.
11 of 24
Phonetic Processing
The middle level of processing; thinking about the sound of the stimuli.
12 of 24
Primacy Effect
Information which is recieved first in a list is recalled better than the following information.
13 of 24

When information we have already learnt (existing knowledge) hinders our ability to learn/recall new information.
14 of 24
Recency Effect
Information which is recieved last in a list is recalled better than that recieved immediately before.
15 of 24

19 of 24
Semantic Processing
The deepest level of processing; thinking about the meaning of the stimuli.
20 of 24
Sensory Store
Holds information recieved from the senses; has a very limited capacity and duration (only a couple of milliseconds)
21 of 24
Short-Term Store
Holds information which passes from the sensory store; has a limited capacity (7 +/- 2 chunks) and limited duration (18 seconds avg.).
22 of 24
Storage
Holding information in the memory system.
23 of 24
