Aftershocks- one elderly man died of cardiac arrest, psychological trauma, people killed from effects of aftershocks

40,000 people stayed in camps, 10,000 housed in hostels, 12,000 rescue workers, 'tent cities' surrounded main towns, emergency plans for housing

Companies sent free mobile phones, PM Silvio Berlusconi refused foreign aid, except for USA, state funeral, reconstruction of 4500 new houses, forrmula 1 car auctioned off to raise money
