9 of 34
Glacial budget
The balance between the inputs (accumulation) and the outputs (ablation) of a glacier.
10 of 34
Abrasion
A process of erosion involving the wearung away of the valley floor and sides (glaciers) ad the shorelibe (coastal zone).
11 of 34
Plucking
A process of glacial erosion where individual rocks are plucked from the valley floor or sides as water freezes them to the glacier.

Rotational slip
Slippage of ice along a cured surface.
13 of 34
Moraine
Sediment carried and deposited by the ice.
14 of 34
Bulldozing

Long profile
This shows the changes in height and shaoe along the length of a glacier, from its source high in the mountains to its snout.
24 of 34
Lateral moraine
A ridge of frost-shattered sediment running along the edge of a glacier where it meets the valey side.
25 of 34
Medial moraine
A ridge of sediment running down the centre of a glacier formed when two lateral moraines merge.
26 of 34
Terminal moraine
A high ridge running across the valley representing the maximum advance of a glacier.
