landfill-Adv. cheap, Dis. run out of space. recycling-acv. use of fewer natural resources, dis. difficult to enforce recycling. Incineration- adv. can create electricity, dis. toxic fumes are emitted.

what are the advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy?
advantages- cheapr, reduces air pollution, UK will have 15% of its energy from wind power. Disadvantages- noise pollution, unattractive, expensive.

what are the advantages and disadvantages of non-renewable energy?
advantages- allows for the local economy to benefit, new transport links opened, creates jobs. Disadvantages-large scale deforestation, tribes forced to move, contaminated water(caused disease), greenhouse gases released.

what is a carbon footprint?
a carbon footprint is a measure of the amount of greenhouse gases we release during our daily lives.

1)population, 2)income and wealth, 3)availability of energy supplies

-poor insulation-leaving doors and windows open- leaving on the lights-leaving on electrical appliances

-machines being left on- lights are left on- poorly serviced machinery becomes inefficient

-loft insulation-turning off electrical appliances-energy saving light bulbs- wind turbines and solar power- cavity wall insulation

-giving advice and financial support to residents-solar panels- gives out energy saving light bulbs

-they grant of £2500 is available per household for using green technologies- they grant of £1 million is available for public buildings
