1 of 11
Prior General Consent
Ppts give consent to take part in a number of experiments, however they may not know the contents of all of the experiments, some of which may contain deceit.
2 of 11
Retrospective Consent
This is when participants have already taken part in study without actually knowing. It is during the debrief that ppts are informed of the deception that has taken place.
3 of 11
Social Sensitivity
Studies in which there are potential consequences or implications, either directly for the participants or for the class of individuals represented in the research.
4 of 11
Implications
Wider effects of research should be carefully considered as some may give "scientific" credibility to prejudice/discrimination e.g racial basis of intelligence. However, implications of research may be difficult to predict.
5 of 11
Conduct of research and treatment of particpants
Concerns of confidentiality e.g. if ppts share socially sensitive information, confidentiality should be maintained. E.g exploring sexual harassment amongst uni students. If some confesses to a crime, it may affect someone they know.
