Removed Treason Act - 1547

When Somerset came into power as Lord Protectorate, he began making changes that transformed England from Catholicism to Protestantism. He first removed the treason act therefore people could practice Protestantism without being punished.

Act of Six Articles Repealed - 1547

Somerset removed the Act of Six Articles introduced by Henry. This meant that Catholicism was no longer the practiced religion in the Church of England. Also left the church without doctrine.

Chantries Act - 1547

Chantries were closed down - schools and hospitals were closed and their properties were seized.

Priests Allowed To Marry - 1549

Priests were able to marry despite having taken a vow of chastity. Massive change since Catholics highly disapproved of Priests marrying.

Book of Common Prayer - 1549

Archbishop Thomas Cranmer drafted a copy of the bible in vernacular English. Large Protestant move as all Catholic Churches had Latin Bibles.

Act of Uniformity - 1549

Passed in 1549 after the Common Prayer Book - stated that all Churches must have a copy of Common Prayer Book otherwise will be punished by imprisonment.
